Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) Social Media Community Guidelines

Our social media channels provide updates on adoptable animals, upcoming events, responsible pet ownership, animal welfare education and the work our staff and volunteers do every day to support the health and safety of the animals in our care. It’s a space for those in our community who love animals and are invested in their wellbeing.

We believe in open, respectful dialogue. We welcome comments, questions and feedback from our community. To keep our platforms safe and supportive for everyone, including our staff and volunteers, we have established the following Social Media Community Guidelines:

Be Respectful

We ask that you express yourself with courtesy, empathy and respect for others. LAPS reserves the right to hide, delete or limit comments that:

  • Contain personal attacks, name calling, threats, or harassment
  • Include language or images that are profane, obscene, vulgar or graphic
  • Promote hate, discrimination or violence
  • Contain misinformation, disinformation or unsubstantiated allegations
  • Include spam, repeated posts, irrelevant or off-topic content
  • Advertise unrelated products, services or campaigns
  • Compromise anyone’s privacy (e.g. posting personal information or photos without consent)
  • Violate the terms of service of the platform

LAPS may turn off or limit comments on certain posts when safety, legal proceedings or community welfare make open comment threads inappropriate.

Protecting Our Team

We will not tolerate personal attacks, abuse or intimidation directed toward our staff or volunteers. These individuals are here to serve the animals in our care and deserve a safe working environment on-and offline.

Users who ignore these guidelines may be muted, restricted or blocked from our channels, and their posts and comments may be deleted, at our discretion.

Respect Your Privacy

For your own privacy, please avoid sharing personal information (e.g. addresses, emails, phone numbers, case details) in public comments. If your comment or question requires follow-up, we may ask you to contact us directly through a private message or by email at info@lapsbc.ca.
