Langley Animal Protection Society has operated from the Township of Langley-owned Patti Dale Animal Shelter in Aldergrove since 2009. Named in honour of LAPS’ founding member, Patti Dale, this state-of-the-art shelter was thoughtfully designed with the physical, emotional and behavioural needs of Greater Langley’s animals in mind.

The facility is flooded with natural light and structured to promote stress-free housing, support animals’ emotional wellbeing and encourage natural behaviours. Every element of the shelter, from housing to outdoor spaces, is designed with the goal of fostering happy, confident and healthy animals. Our team follows the Canadian Advisory Council on National Shelter Standards’ guidelines as outlined in the Canadian Standards of Care in Animal Shelters, centring the animals’ needs in their care.

Each dog enjoys in-out compartment housing, allowing them to move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces at their choosing. Surrounded by acres of land, dogs have ample space for walks and exploration, and the property features multiple play yards, giving them opportunities to socialize and engage in stimulating activities in a safe, controlled setting. Many of the cats in our care benefit from outdoor catios and their indoor environment is optimized for their comfort, with enrichment and cat-friendly vertical spaces as well as cat scratches available to allow for normal behaviour.

Patti Dale Shelter Use

Dogs and Farm Animals

As of January 1, 2026, the Patti Dale Animal Shelter only provides animal sheltering services for dogs and (some) farm animals that reside in, or are found within, the Township of Langley’s boundaries. More information on the scope of intake at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter can be found here.

Cats

Cats from all Greater Langley communities continue to be housed and cared for at the Patti Dale location as part of our donor-funded programming.

ISOasis Centre

The Patti Dale Shelter also houses ISOasis, a centre established to care for vulnerable and homeless cats that suffer from conditions such as ringworm fungus and upper respiratory infections or require behavioural rehabilitation. The bright, cage-free environment supports their physical and emotional welfare, allowing them to heal in a supportive and nurturing environment. This donor-funded program cares for vulnerable cats from across Greater Langley.
