Director of Finance

The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is a growing non-profit organization committed to providing safe harbor to over 650 animals annually, supporting families in need through programs like Major's Legacy and New Beginnings, and building a future of innovative, compassionate animal welfare. We are seeking a strategic and highly dedicated Director of Finance to join our leadership team.

This role requires a unique combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate is solution-focused, innovative, and committed to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our organization. While experience in animal welfare is not required, a background in non-profit finance is highly valued.

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including full-cycle accounting, payroll, budgeting, and reporting. This role provides strategic financial guidance to the Executive Director and Board, ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, and drives innovative solutions to enhance organizational efficiency.

The Director of Finance is both a strategic leader and a “doer,” actively involved in day-to-day financial operations while leading long-term planning and risk management initiatives.

This position reports to the Executive Director but also provides support and collaborates with the entire leadership team and staff.

Animal Care Attendant

Langley Animal Protection Society

Under the direction of the Director of Animal Welfare, the Animal Care Attendant (ACA) is responsible for the day-to-day care of the animals at LAPS. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, exercising, bathing, medicating, and monitoring the well-being of dogs, cats, and other animals and related documentation. The ACA team is responsible for building maintenance for both animal and people areas. The ACA team is responsible for maintaining all areas of the shelter in a clean, neat, and orderly manner. Bringing enthusiasm and energy to a team environment participating in daily animal care duties to ensure optimal levels of care are administered to the animals based on LAPS vision, mission, and core values.

Animal Pathway Planning Coordinator

Langley Animal Protection Society

Under the direction of the Director, Animal Welfare, the Animal Pathway Planning Coordinator (APPC) position is responsible for many of the day-to-day operating procedures governing and facilitating the adoptions and intakes of cats and dogs at LAPS. This is an animal “hands on” position in conjunction with administrative and customer service tasks. The APPC position will facilitate and oversee adoptions, intakes, surrenders and adoption returns. They will work with the Coordinator team to keep up to date on all behaviour and veterinary needs for the animals to ensure successful placement. The APPC will assist the Director, Animal Welfare with placement of Working Whiskers Cats. They will assist with overseeing volunteer foster families. The APPC will work with the Communications department to create social media content to promote adoptable animals and will ensure that animals have the shortest length of stay possible, while still ensuring a successful long term placement.
