LAPS supports stray dogs in the Greater Langley area through sheltering services. Please contact LAPS Animal Control Services Call Center for stray dogs at 604.857.5055 if you come across a dog in need of care.
Dogs found within Metro Vancouver Parks that have an active dog licence for the Township of Langley will be accepted at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter. Please refer to the Township of Langley Animal Control page for more information.
LAPS supports all other dogs found in Metro Vancouver parks located in Greater Langley at boarding facilities and through foster home options.
LAPS’ staff will prioritize reuniting lost dogs with their owners, arranging appointments to return animals directly home. When immediate reunification is not possible, LAPS will seek foster care provided by trained LAPS staff or volunteer members in pre-screened homes.
If a foster home is unavailable, dogs will be cared for in a pre-approved, Fear Free community boarding facility that meets LAPS’ high standards for humane and enriched care. While in boarding, dogs will receive appropriate housing, food, enrichment, medical care and exercise, overseen directly by LAPS’ Animal Services staff and leadership. Staff will monitor their wellbeing, arrange veterinary care as needed, conduct intake examinations and treatments, support behaviour and training, and transport the dogs back to their guardians when found, with no additional cost to guardians.
