How does LAPS' New Beginnings program work?
The New Beginnings Program helps you privately rehome your pet by listing them on the LAPS website. Simply submit an application with your pet’s details and photos and pay a $25 fee (waived if your pet was adopted from LAPS). Your pet’s profile will be listed for 30 days or until rehomed. While LAPS doesn’t screen adopters, we provide helpful resources to guide you, and the final decision is always yours. We’re here to support you every step of the way, just reach out if you need help.
How does LAPS receive its funding?
LAPS is funded through a combination of municipal service contracts, donations from individuals and businesses, grants, and fundraising events. We rely heavily on community support to sustain our shelter operations and offer programs such as spay/neuter assistance, veterinary subsidies, and the pet food bank. All cat programming is fully funded by donors. Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping animals in need and supporting our mission to keep people and pets together.
