LAPS is dedicated to partnering with our community to provide care to Langley’s most vulnerable animals. A few of our partners include:

The Township of Langley

Because of the Township of Langley’s Community Grant, LAPS is proud to offer 20 free cat Spay/Neuter certificates per month to families in need of support. As part of our broader mission to help reduce the number of stray and vulnerable cats in both the city and the township of Langley, this initiative is a critical part of removing barriers to care for owned cats in need of care.

We are so thankful for the Township of Langley’s generous commitment to provide a portion of the funds required to make this program possible. We are also thankful for Brookswood Veterinary Clinic for their partnership with us to provide this service to the broader community. Without these partnerships and the generous donations of our LAPS Community, this initiative would simply not be possible. If you are in need of financial support spaying or neutering your owned cat, please give us a call at (604) 857-5055 to learn more about the support we may be able to provide for your furever family. If you are in need of further veterinary support, please see Major’s Legacy Fund. If you are looking for support with a feral cat colony on your property, please see our Community Cat program.

The City of Langley

The City of Langley has been an invaluable partner in our mission. Their continuous support has made a significant impact on our ability to provide welfare for animals in need and raise awareness about our cause. Since October 2004, we have been privileged to offer our services to the community. In 2009, we were honored to secure the contract to provide animal control services and manage the Langley Animal Control Shelter. This partnership has allowed us to expand our reach and provide essential care for countless animals. We are immensely grateful to the City of Langley for their ongoing collaboration, as it has played a vital role in our success and the well-being of the animals we serve.

The Satellite Adoption Center

LAPS and PetSmart have teamed up to get more cats out of our shelter and into loving homes! The Abbotsford PetSmart is now home to one of our adoption centres, which will house four to twelve LAPS cats or kittens at a time.

This project will make a huge difference in the lives of Langley’s cats.

This adoption centre has the potential to double our cat adoptions, which will double the number of cats we can help. Housing cats at PetSmart not only frees up shelter space for other cats in need, it also provides our current adoptable felines with more exposure to the public and makes it more likely for them to be adopted quickly. By shortening their shelter stay, this centre will improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of them developing stress related health problems.

We also have high hopes for this adoption centre during kitten season. With over 200 kittens arriving at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter between May and October every year, things can get a little overwhelming. Although most kittens are adopted quickly, black kittens are often overlooked and end up staying at the shelter until all the other kittens have been adopted. Increased exposure will help our black beauties find the families they deserve!

Thank you to PetSmart and all our wonderful volunteers for helping us make this dream a reality!

Rabbitats

Rabbitats Rescue Society is a BC-based registered charity. Rabbitats is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abandoned pet rabbits in the lower mainland. Rabbitats also advocates and assists with the construction of “Rabbitats”- predator proof, sustainable and visually appealing structures to house small pet rabbit colonies. Rabbitats promotes ‘colony rescue’, encouraging and facilitating ‘micro-sanctuaries’ to safely house larger numbers and reduce the number of loose rabbits in the environment and unwanted rabbits in shelters. They are a volunteer driven organization that relies on the community’s support to help rabbits in need. In addition to this, Rabbitats also works with community members to identify areas where feral and free roaming Rabbit colonies exist in the lower mainland through interactive mapping technologies.
