Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is passionate about caring for the cats that have made their home in our community. Unfortunately, Langley has an estimated 20,000 cats who have been abandoned or who were born feral. These animals are forced to survive either on their own or within colonies in our community.

Many people live with the assumption that cats, feral or owned are fully capable of caring for themselves in the wild. The unfortunate reality is that abandoning a cat almost always leads to starvation, illness, and inhumane death. For those cats that do survive, they are often un-spayed or unneutered and go on to produce litter after litter of kittens. Illnesses, early death and injuries are common due to a lack of basic care.

Our goal is to provide better lives for the cats who are currently living within our community, reduce the number of community cats, and to provide a humane option for people to surrender their cats so that more cats aren’t forced to survive or die in the wild.

LAPS wants people to know that we are a safe place for animals of all types. Whether a full colony or a single litter of kittens, we provide humane and judgment free care. By letting us know about the community cats in your area, you are saving lives and serving your community.

Our goal is to effectively half the community cat population in Langley over the next ten years through TNR, rescue services, and our Community Cat education programming.

If you would like to be a part of this important initiative, we encourage you to give us a call to receive some free Community Cat posters for your community, OR print off your own at the link below for yourself and others to enjoy. And, watch closely for many more upcoming projects to help support the Community Cat care initiative in the near future!
