Cat Lost/Found Report
Because lost pets know no boundaries, LAPS has partnered with Petlynx to help get them home sooner. Petlynx is a central external web-based pet recovery system that uses basic animal descriptions to make successful matches between lost & found pet reports.
The key to its success is that it does not rely on humans to make matches or to interpret breed guesses. Also, access to Petlynx is not limited the LAPS service area This means that matches can be made for animals that may have crossed municipal, provincial or country boundaries.
We believe that this tool, along with the diligent and caring animal care staff at the LAPS Patti Dale Animal Shelter, will allow us to reunite more lost pets with their owners.
How does it work?
The LAPS Petlynx system is simple. By directing all callers that have lost or found pets to the Petlynx pet recover web site, a database of lost animals is created. These reports are automatically checked against all reports already posted and every time a new one is added.
LAPS posts all found animals that arrive at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter. Potential matches (with % match) are emailed directly to your email address for you to review. If you feel you have a match, then it is up to you to contact the person who posted the report.
How do you file a Lost/Found Report?
Click on the Petlynx link and follow the instructions if you:
- Have Lost or Found a cat in Langley or elsewhere;
- Have Lost (only) a dog in Langley or elsewhere;
- Have Lost or Found any animal in Langley or elsewhere; or
- Have Found (only) a dog elsewhere than in Langley.
If you have Found a dog in Langley (Township or City), please contact the Patti Dale Animal Shelter and an Animal Control Officer will attend to collect the dog.
Need help filing a report? No problem. Simply call the Patti Dale Animal Shelter @ 604-857-5055 and a member of the LAPS animal care staff would be happy to walk you through the process.
Still want to do more? Print copies of your lost/found report and circulate them around your neighbourhood. All it takes is for the right person to see your poster and a match could be made.
