Patti Dale

Patricia Elizabeth (Patti) Dale (1958-2005)

Patti Dale, a tireless volunteer, devoted herself to the care and welfare of companion animals.

In 2000, Patti coordinated volunteers, organized dog walking programs, formed a group to provide foster homes for animals awaiting adoption, and raised money for animal medical care.  In 2003, that group of volunteers evolved and formed the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) and undertook the role of providing animal control services for the Township of Langley.  As a driving force in the establishment of LAPS, Patti advocated for a municipal animal shelter.  Her dream was to see a new shelter built on the existing site in Aldergrove.  Patti and LAPS members visited many shelters to gather the best design concepts and ideas for housing and handling animals.

Those concepts and ideas are incorporated into the Township of Langley's new animal shelter dedicated in her honour on October 11, 2008.
