How do I register a complaint?
Call the LAPS office at (604) 857-5055; please leave a message outside of regular business hours. One of the LAPS staff members will contact you the next business day.
If you are calling after hours regarding a situation that is urgent and poses an immediate threat to public safety, please contact The Langley RCMP (604) 532-3200.
Dog Licenses
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A SPAYED OR A NEUTERED ANIMAL, WE'LL REQUIRE A COPY OF VETERINARIAN CERTIFICATE. OTHERWISE YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. YOU CAN MAIL OR FAX IT TO THE SHELTER ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION FORM BELOW.
In Langley City and the Township of Langley, every dog over the age of 4 months must be licensed. Licensing pays for services that LAPS provides to thousands of animals each year. If your dog is lost and found, he or she will be quickly identified by its tag.
Licenses can be purchased directly from LAPS in person or ordered over the phone. Visa or MasterCard are accepted for phone orders and licenses will be mailed directly to you.
Important Information:
- All dogs over 4 months of age must be licensed
- Licenses are annual and the fee is not prorated
- Licenses much be purchased by February 1st of each year
- The license tag mustbe worn by your dog
- Only 2 licensees/dogs per property (in accordance with TWP zoning regulations)
- Current licenses from other municipalities are honored if visiting

Miscalleneous Pricing - 2010
- Hobby Kennel License Fee $150.00 (maximum 6 tags)
- Licensed Commercial Kennel $225.00 Plus $10.00 per tag
- Lost tag replacement $10.00 per tag
- License transfer from another municipality $10.00 (Veterinarian certificate must be produced for each neutered male or spayed female.)
What are the reasons for licensing?
- Identification – this is the most reliable way of reuniting a lost dog with its owner
- Support Shelter – a portion of licensing revenue supports the Animal Shelter so competent and professional care can be given to lost animals
- Services – municipal services are provided to dog owners based on registered dogs, such as off leash parks
- Savings – reduction in 1st impound fee for licensed dogs from $100.00 (plus the cost of the license) to $25.00
